October 4th 2020 - 26th Anniversary of Collector's Corner Inc

Today is a day of the year that I usually look forward to with excitement. The anniversary of the day that, in 1994, I first opened the doors of Collector’s Corner Inc under my ownership at 4011 Jefferson Ave in Midland Michigan. This year, however, is the first time in 26 years that I am without a physical store, and it is just now starting to hit me, even though we have been closed to the public since Mid-March.
First, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you that have not only reached out to myself and my family with kind words, or stories about your experiences with us in addition to those of you that have continued to help support a small local mom and pop comic shop. We couldn’t and wouldn’t be here without your support and the thing that I have enjoyed the most over these past 26 years is being able to help build this community and connect with each and every one of you.
Second, I need to thank my family. Not only did my parents give me an opportunity to change my life and help me create something I couldn’t have imagined at that time what it would become, but my wife, Rhonda, and my children, Justin, Hayden and Hiro have given me not only time but support every single day of our lives. It’s easy for me to lose myself in things that need to be done, or have the store steal more time than I could ever notice except in hindsight. Without their patience and love, I wouldn’t have made it to my 26th anniversary.
Third, I want to assure you, Collector’s Corner Inc has not closed and we are still helping you Feed Your Inner Geek every day! Not only are new comic books being released every single week, as you are used to, but every day we continue to add additional items from our HUGE collection that you have come to expect from us at https://ccornermi.myshopify.com ! Although we have closed our physical location on Jefferson Ave in Midland Michigan, we are still offering our No Contact Delivery, World-Wide Shipping and are working on contracts with other local businesses to continue to have a physical presence in town for local pick-up and perhaps with on-going stands, or even pop-up stores! Please Like and Follow us on Facebook for the most up to date information and news!
If you don’t see an item you are looking for on our Online Purchasing Platform, please send us a direct message on Facebook (
) or at ccornermi@gmail.com, at andrew@MIComicsAndGames.com or through our website at https://micomicsandgames.com. You can also find us on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube under CCornerMI. Please help us continue to grow our community in new and exciting ways in a digital world. Tag us, share posts and let’s build a community online that can rival anything we use to be able to do in the physical world.
Fourth, we have plans to create an actual Comic Book Delivery Truck, and possibly have touch-screen Comic Book Vending Machines around town. While I cannot do this on my own in the current financial climate, I know that this would be something that will change the industry and community for the better. Please keep an eye out for more information as we work to these goals, and I hope to have more news before the end of the year!
Fifth, starting tomorrow, October 5th, we will start our new regular hours. Even though we will not have a physical store for you to come to, I will be available on Facebook, through email, and at times try to be available for live conversations as well. While we currently will still only be doing deliveries once per week, on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted, we are working towards having next day pick ups and other ways for you to Feed Your Inner Geek as quickly as possible! These hours will be Mondays-Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. At any other time, please feel free to reach out, and we will get back with you as quickly as possible. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Finally, I would like to take a moment to attempt to describe what this experience has meant to me. Starting in my early 20’s I not only was inexperienced in business, but also wanting to feed a hunger for collecting that many of you also feel. This drive helped me reach heights I never thought possible, meeting creative teams behind those that make the comics we adore, work with companies to help mold the products we collect from comic books to games, and travel the country for Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro, but also to be an integral part of creating a community locally that I hope lives on without my physical presence. To have been able to see children who first came into our store over 2 decades ago, wide-eyed and excited, to bringing in their own children mimicking the exact same wonder, is something that I wish everyone could experience. Not only has it been a joy I can never repay, but it has been an experience I will never forget. Thank you all for opening your arms, families and community to me, my family, and our business, and I hope that we can continue to be apart of your lives for the ages to come. Stay safe and healthy…..stay curious and kind. Most of all, continue to laugh and love.
